What Found stores

Found stores saved page records, search data, and library settings locally in your browser. On a phone, imported images and PDFs are kept in that browser's on-device database. If you connect a desktop folder, ordinary JSON files and imported originals are written there with your explicit permission. Text extracted on your device is stored in matching item records.

What we never store

The prototype does not send saved page text, titles, URLs, filenames, screenshots, imported documents, saved email files, or search queries to a Found server. It has no user account and no cloud content database.

Screenshot OCR runs inside the extension or mobile web app with a bundled engine and language data. It does not call a Found or third-party OCR service.

PDF text extraction also runs locally in the mobile web app and extension. Word, text, Markdown, HTML, and saved email parsing runs inside the extension. Those files are not sent to a conversion or indexing service.

• We do not train models on your library.
• We do not sell or share your saved content.
• We do not build an advertising profile from your searches.
• We do not read browser history or bookmarks.

Local storage and folder access

A compatible browser may let you choose a local folder. The browser presents that permission prompt, and Found receives access only after you choose a folder. If permission expires, Found asks you to reconnect; it does not move or delete your files.

Phones use private browser storage instead. Found asks the browser to preserve it, but iOS keeps Safari and a Home Screen web app separate. Install Found before your first iPhone save so you start in the library you intend to keep using.

Analytics

This prototype does not include product analytics. If anonymous usage measurement is added later, search text and saved content will remain excluded. A search event may report only a result count—not the query that produced it.

If you leave Found

Files in your Found folder remain ordinary files. Removing the extension or clearing the browser prototype does not imply that those files will be deleted. Another tool—or a future reinstall of Found—can read the same library.

A phone library is different: clearing site data or deleting its Home Screen app can remove that device-only library. Mobile export and bring-your-own-cloud sync are not in this build yet.
